Welcome to the Nebraska Public Service Commission's home page. The Public Service Commission (PSC) is a constitutional agency headed by five commissioners elected by district. The PSC is responsible for regulating and assisting the public with the following industries:
- Telecommunications
- Taxis and Limousines
- Grain Warehouse Storage
- Railroad Safety
- Private Water Companies
The PSC also has regulatory authority over the placement of certain electrical transmission lines and gas pipelines; wireless E911 service; and the making and selling of manufactured homes, modular homes and recreational vehicles. As an important service to the public, the PSC administers the following telecommunications programs:
- Telecommunications Relay System, which allows individuals with hearing and speech disabilities to utilize the telephone
- Relay Equipment Distribution Program, which provides financial assistance to persons with hearing and speech disabilities for the purchase of specialized telephone equipment
- Lifeline/Link-up Program, which provides financial assistance to qualified Nebraskans for telephone service and hook-up
- Nebraska Universal Service Fund, which keeps local telephone rates affordable and comparable across the state and has reduced in-state long distance rates
